Everything About Ikea Singapore’s Resten Bag

The Ikea Frakta is one of the most well-known and widely used bags of the past thirty years—simple and functional as it is. Iconic and easily recognizable, it’s a versatile and durable tool initially designed to carry home purchases after shopping at Ikea stores. Over the years, designers like Virgil Abloh, Demna Gvasalia, and Rolf and Mette Hay have reimagined and found inspiration in this object. Today, however, we are talking about the Resten Bag, inspired by the classic Frakta but created by Ikea Singapore to offer support in moments of fatigue in our hectic lives.

The Resten Bag project—developed in collaboration with The Secret Little Agency—is nothing more than a playful and multifunctional reinterpretation of the Frakta. Its unmistakable electric blue color, now forever associated with the Swedish brand, makes it easily recognizable. The padding, on the other hand, not only offers the perfect opportunity to refresh and enrich the archive and history of classic Ikea design but also provides an experience of Singapore’s unique interpretation of this object.
