American artist John Pugh has just completed his latest spectacular work entitled “Revolution” in Ottawa, Illinois.
John Pugh is a world-renowned trompe l’oeil artist, engaging and deceiving audiences with his large-scale artwork in spaces around the world, including San Francisco, Miami and New York, as well as Taiwan, Mexico and New Zealand.
His “trick of the eye” murals deceive viewers by showing them the broken wall of a modern facade, and decorate urban landscapes with hyper-realistic optical illusions.

I have discovered that the “language” of life-sized illusions allows me to communicate effectively with a very wide audience. People enjoy being visually deceived. Once intrigued by the illusion, the viewer is invited to visually cross the work to explore and discover what lies behind it.

Once again, even in “Revolution” the American artist has managed to deceive us, giving us the illusion that the women depicted in his latest work are moving the wall.
In the upper revolving wall there is a painted reproduction of a “Poppy” by Georgia O’Keeffe, while inside the windows there are the Radium Girls (workers of the 20s poisoned by the self-luminous paint used to paint the clock dials).
This artwork depicts women from the “Roaring Twenties”, and is entirely dedicated to them.
