Tomorrow, Thursday December 11 at 6:30 p.m., Micamera will host Riccardo Fregoso for the presentation of Winter Light, the new book published by Setanta Books that marks an intimate, luminous return for the Italian-French photographer. In conversation with him will be Matteo Zampollo of Rolling Stone Italia, for a talk capable of moving through imagery, processes and that visual sensibility that has defined his work for years. If with Adriatico Fregoso portrayed an urban anti-dream made of summer memories and suspended returns, Winter Light shifts the focus to the Po Valley and to a winter light that becomes narrative material. It is an ephemeral brightness, filtered through curtains and windows, that settles on everyday objects and family bonds, transforming domestic interiors and ordinary landscapes into a new emotional territory. Here intimacy is not nostalgia, but a kind of magical realism born from subtraction: the light isolates, digs, reveals.

Shot entirely on film starting in 2018, the project is accompanied by an unpublished text by Francesco Pacifico, which amplifies the book’s perceptive dimension with a dense, almost corporeal language. The photographs and the writing draw close like two forms of the same consciousness, creating a sequence that rejects the sentimentality of the “return home” and instead questions photography’s power to transform what is in front of our eyes into something that brushes against the invisible.

Printed in a limited edition of 400 copies and presented for the first time at Paris Photo, Winter Light confirms Fregoso’s ability to build suspended worlds, where light is not just a technical element but a narrative character. The event at Micamera thus becomes a privileged immersion in this winter universe: an opportunity to listen to the author, leaf through the book and let yourself be permeated by that same luminosity that inhabits it.

At the end of the event there will also be a book signing, the ideal opportunity to meet the author and take home a signed copy of the book.
