Y/PROJECT and Salomon have created a shoe that celebrates the expertise of both brands. This project combines absurdity and opulence with form and functionality, offering a graphic and structured reinterpretation of Salomon’s iconic trail model. The Salomon Speedcross 3 Y/PROJECT – releasing today, October 10th – stands out for its use of unique fabrics, giving the shoe an almost absurd look in its finish. The result is a perfect fusion of design versatility with an irony that blends with traditional trail running codes. Glenn Martens, a key figure in the creation of the sneaker, played a fundamental role in this collaboration, marking one of his final creations as creative director of Y/PROJECT.

The Y/Project and Salomon collaboration
A central element of the shoe is the crinkled texture of the fabric, achieved through an adjustable drawstring that keeps the draping in place, creating a pleated aesthetic that reveals the underlying Sensifit™ technology. This elaborate fabric work adds a striking visual appeal, balancing luxury with functionality.

Despite its high-fashion sneaker appearance, the Speedcross 3 Y/PROJECT is performance-driven. The shoe retains an aggressive sole with lugs that characterize the sneaker, ensuring impeccable traction on various surfaces, while also offering stability and control. Lightweight protection is provided by a protective band around the base of the foot, shielding it from the elements without weighing down the shoe’s overall structure.
