Architectural firm Nomadic Resorts has created “Seedpod“, a “small hive-like inhabitable structures” in the heart of the Heritage Nature Reserve in Mauritius, between the Jacotier River flowing down through bamboo and ebony forests to the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

Heritage Nature Reserve has chosen Nomadic Resorts to create something never before seen, so that guests can spend their days relaxing by the river or enjoying a glass of wine without being disturbed by mosquitoes.

The Dutch firm specializes in sustainable architecture, contemporary bamboo construction and low carbon engineering, has worked in a number of luxury resorts including Resplendent Ceylon, Six Senses resort and spa and Soneva Group, &Beyond and many others.

Seedpods take only a few minutes to install and can be hung from trees and rocks. They are also equipped with photovoltaics, lighting, a ceiling fan, a cooling box and a charging station for the devices.

Their shape is very similar to that of a beehive, they are also resistant to strong gusts of wind, so guests are safe even in the event of a strong storm. They are also coated with an antiviral membrane called Agivir, which makes its surfaces virucidal.
