Tokyo-based French architect and designer Emmanuelle Moureaux presented a large-scale installation at the NOW Gallery in London, her first in the UK. Entitled ‘slices of time‘, the work is inspired by the gallery of the same name and its location on the Greenwich Peninsula, near the meridian.
A work that retraces the past, present, and future, the colorful exhibition includes 168,000 small numbers that make up 120 ‘slices’ of time. Emmanuelle Moureaux used 100 shades of color, creating a play of light and color with a complex and beautiful aesthetic.
“This exhibition will involve everyone, giving them the opportunity to have a moment to enjoy colour and form in all its simplicity and complexity.
The artist drew inspiration from the city in which she has now settled, she was immediately struck by the overwhelming number of shop signs, flying electric cables and flashes of blue sky framed by various volumes of buildings, have created three-dimensional “layers” in the city”.
All this expanded the essence of her ‘shikiri’ design concept, which means dividing space with colors.
