The Snoopy lamp by Flos, designed in the 1960s, has become a symbol of contemporary design. And now, in 2024, it’s dressed in a new shade: navy blue. Yes, you heard that right. After the orange, green, and black versions, this luminous icon created by brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni is arriving in a new color inspired by another of their creations, the Sciuko lamp from 1966.

But what makes the Snoopy lamp special beyond its new color? First of all, its design is inspired by none other than the famous cartoon beagle: the lamp’s unmistakable shape evokes Snoopy’s snout, making it both ironic and appealing. Then there are the details: the marble base, the thick glass disc that diffuses the light, and the enameled aluminum shade featuring three small cooling holes, as if to say, “Look, I’m beautiful but also functional!”

Thanks to its perfect weight distribution, the Snoopy is stable and reliable, while the light beam is angled to precisely illuminate the workspace, leaving the other side softer. It was a revolutionary idea for its time and is still loved by design enthusiasts today.

Of course, all this charm comes at a price: €1,280, or about $1,396. It’s certainly pricey, but then again, who wouldn’t make a small investment to bring home a piece of design history… and a bit of Snoopy?
