The houseboat designed by Tamás Bene

In the north-eastern part of Hungary, about two hours drive from Budapest, immersed in the green you can come across the Tisza Lake, an artificial lake created in 1973 following the construction of a dam on the river of the same name that feeds it. In a few years, the lake has become one of the main destinations of summer tourism in the country. It is not difficult, therefore, to believe that a young couple from Budapest asked the architect Tamás Bene to design a vacation home that would allow them to experience the nature of the area at 360°.

Being inspired by the calm waters of the lake, the young Hungarian architect thought of transforming a small boat into a real home. “Sneci“, this is the name of the project, actually looks like a small boat, perfect to be carried by the few currents of the Lake Tisza.

Moving away from the canonical idea of a house, firmly resting on foundations, Tamás Bene has equipped the small boat with everything necessary to live in it. Inside, in fact, we find a small kitchen and a dining room, the table and benches then can be transformed into a double bed, offering a comfortable overnight stay.
In addition, Sneci is equipped with solar panels on the roof that power the electronic devices and a 20-liter drinking water reserve.

The houseboat designed by Tamás Bene fits perfectly into the natural context, without visually polluting the landscape and, in addition, thanks to the large opening at the bow, the permanent contact with nature is assured.
