Colorful, irreverent, witty and politically incorrect, these are the drawings of Ruth Mora, an American artist, illustrator and designer from Los Angeles known on Instagram as @_meanmachine.

Ruth Mora started drawing as a child and grew up making art her profession. In her works, she mixes the fashion of the 1950s and the punk aesthetic of the 1980s, two apparently divergent movements which, however, find meaning and coherence in her form of artistic expression.

Her illustrations are an echo of the voice of everyone’s conscience and a mirror of a disorderly age of derision, impertinence and provocation. To understand the message contained in her drawings, you must therefore stop, pay attention and understand. This is the only way to fully appreciate Ruth’s originality and style.

Her works are bold and powerful images, play with a precise selection of colors, have particular grunge and vintage aesthetic and can be defined as the old school evolution of the new generation.

In her work Ruth Mora is inspired by artists such as Ryan Heshka, Pippa Toole and Marena Skinner.
