Tekla Evelina Severin and architectural photography

Tekla Evelina Severin and architectural photography

Giulia Guido · 9 months ago · Photography

Tekla Evelina Severin lives in Stockholm, but her profession has led her to work around the world. A graduate in interior architecture, Tekla immediately developed a great sense of aesthetics and then began to share details of building facades, staircases, windows and architectural details on her Instagram profile

Her photos, which focus on shapes, shadows, contrasts, and colors, immediately began to receive positive acclaim from the people of the web. This popularity (due to her skill) allowed her to leave her job as an interior designer, which she had started to tighten up a bit, and to devote herself full time to photography.

This allowed her to refine her technique, to travel around the world to take some of the most beautiful and particular buildings that exist and to start collaborating with the likes of Vogue Brazil, Elle Interior UK, IKEA, and many others.

Discover her shots in our gallery and on her website.

Nadia Lee Cohen’s NSFW patinated fashion photographs

Nadia Lee Cohen’s NSFW patinated fashion photographs

Claudia Fuggetti · 9 months ago · Photography

Nadia Lee Cohen is a British photographer and filmmaker, inspired by the imaginations of the cinema of the ’50s,’ 60s and ’70s. We at Collater.al had already talked about this artist on the occasion of the video A Guide to Indulgence, which you find here.

Her style is very reminiscent of David LaChapelle because of the effect coated with bright colors, which becomes almost plastic and exaggerates the concept of femininity. In the NSFW shots, there are women of all kinds, who are not afraid of showing their naked bodies, captured with an allusive and sensual look, even when they are dressed.

Atmospheres are studied, the cinematographic cut that lends her style to be perfect for advertising and fashion photography. In fact, among her collaborations stand out names like Miu Miu and Vogue. Another interesting aspect of her research is that she is often the protagonist of her projects.

Check out other Nadia works that you find on her website, in the meantime you can take a look at the gallery below.

Charlotte Lapalus, soft atmospheres and glam elegance

Charlotte Lapalus, soft atmospheres and glam elegance

Claudia Fuggetti · 9 months ago · Photography

The photographs by French artist Charlotte Lapalus seem to be constantly suspended over time, showing all their beauty and elegance.

Although known mainly in the field of fashion, this artist is able to communicate well without taking models or in strictly fashion contexts: her soft atmospheres with warm colors transmit peace and at the same time give off a certain elegance, almost glam, that arrives also to the most naive spectator.

Among her favorite photographers, we find Martin Parr and Raymond Depardon, reworked and assimilated by her refined but never boring style.

If you want to know more, we suggest you take a look at the Charlotte site you find here.

Thomas Barbèy, surreal black and white photomontages

Thomas Barbèy, surreal black and white photomontages

Giulia Guido · 9 months ago · Photography

Born in Geneva, Thomas Barbèy started drawing at the age of thirteen, perhaps inspired by the Caran D’ache factory he saw from his windows at home. Then he approached photography, began to travel and get inspired by the places he visited.

So, inspired by the exotic landscapes of Asia, the skyscrapers of New York and the beauty of the palaces and canals of Venice, he began to combine and superimpose the different views he immortalized in his shots.

The keywords are two: black and white and surreal. All the works he creates are artistic exercises, not made for clients, but for pure pleasure. The only absolute judge is the taste of Thomas, who has always said that his works must pass the “So what?” test. If, looking at one of his works, he has to say this sentence, then it’s not a well done job and he starts again.

So what? What are you waiting for to discover Thomas Barbèy’s works in our gallery?

Mexico City, Joe Perri captures the atmosphere of Mexico

Mexico City, Joe Perri captures the atmosphere of Mexico

Claudia Fuggetti · 9 months ago · Photography

Joe Perri, an American photographer, has dedicated his research to the capital of Mexico, creating his immersive project Mexico City. The combination of vegetation and urban chaos immediately caught the attention of the photographer, who decided to play with contrasts and visual combinations: both in terms of content and lights.

Modern architecture coexists with ancient buildings, just as the elderly find themselves with the young, and it almost seems that the entire city lives in a timeless dimension. Chaos is beauty and Joe captures it in everything, proposing a total vision of the urban context, which treats small and large things, people and plants alike. As the artist tells us:

I soon realized that this complex and constantly evolving megalopolis is a study of contrasts and fascination, and there I found harmony between all”.

For a New Yorker like Joe the comparison with his city came naturally: in Mexico City everything flows more slowly, with less frenzy and this makes the rhythms of the megalopolis much more livable.
