Ariel Victor, a young Indonesian illustrator and animator, has a relatively negative opinion of the future.  In the animated short film The Chosen Generation, we follow the story of six young guys living in a post-apocalyptic world.

The city is no longer livable, it has been abandoned and has only one thing to offer, Wi-Fi. The protagonists, however, are too busy to stay always connected to the network and active on social networks to realize the desolation that surrounds them.

The great solution is to leave, leave the city and then the connection. To me the choice between wi-fi and survival doesn’t seem complicated, I’d know exactly what to do, but it’s not the same for the six teenagers.

After all, not everyone is willing to completely break away from the web. Perhaps the fear of realizing how much they are alone, how much time they have wasted is stronger than the desire to continue to live but live.
