Two months spent in Ankara, Turkey, were for Alberto Allegretti a time of great observation of the reality around him. In the capital and in the other small and large towns he visited during this period, Allegretti looked with interest at a characteristic element of the life of the Turkish people and the places of aggregation such as the shops, an attraction and social meeting point for natives and tourists alike.
This gave rise to “The Owner“, a series of portraits of small or medium-sized vendors, of groceries or sweets, portraying people surrounded by a multitude of objects that together describe the habits of an entire people, its economic situation and the identity of a state on the border between the western and eastern worlds.
