To someone like me, who grew up with Disney movies, such news can only change the day.
Tonight saw the release of the first official trailer for the remake of The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, the director of The Jungle Book and the first two Iron Man.
After Dumbo, directed by Tim Burton, and Aladdin by Guy Ritchie, the story of the most beautiful lion ever will be the third remake in live action to be released in 2019 and, judging by the first clip, will not betray expectations.
What breaks the silence, are the images of the most iconic scene of the film, that of the “Circle of Life“, the moment in which Rafiki shows the whole kingdom a newborn Simba, played by Donald Glover.
There is still no room for friends Timon and Pumbaa, whose voices are by Seth Rogen and Billy Eicher, and neither for Scar, Chiwetel Ejiofor, nor for Nala, to whom the voice is lent by Beyoncé, of Mufasa, played by James Earl Jones, is instead the voice that recites the already famous oration that accompanies the trailer.
A cast of superstars who have contributed to the success of a remake that many were waiting for and whose soundtrack is still curated by Elton John who has reworked some of the original pieces of 1994 with Hans Zimmer and Beyoncé.
But don’t worry, some of the songs you loved are already been confirmed: “Circle of Life“, “I Just Can not Wait to be King“, “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” will surely be part of the new soundtrack.
Until July 2019, in the hope that more official trailers will come out, we just have to wait, so get comfortable and watch this first teaser trailer endlessly!
