In a dream world of fabric and fluff, two characters, wrapped up in their love, embark on a heart-breaking journey of self-discovery. They unite and divide, influence and transform each other, fight tooth and nail to keep what they had before, but their bonds change and evolve along with their surroundings. This is the short plot of “A LOVE STORY“, the stop-motion short film by Anushka Naanayakkara, a sincere and painful love story, but not like any other.
This short film uses wool as a material to best portray the emotional complexity of a relationship. Like fibres, the characters weave, knot, rip and tear at the mercy of the harsh reality of love and the search for their own identity.
“A LOVE STORY“, however, is a film open to interpretation that does not want to teach anything or make anyone doubt, but simply brings comfort to those who have experienced similar situations and live in the turmoil of their emotions.
