Ultramar Studio, the brand founded by Ewan Lamm, takes us beyond the sea to discover cultures, legends, and traditions through design objects that are true three-dimensional stories. With his debut collection—presented during the recent Milan Design Week—“Symposium of Gods and Spirits,” Lamm explores the dialogue between humanity, spirituality, and design, creating a bridge between past and future.

The concept of the collection is inspired by ancient Greek symposia, where philosophers and artists gathered to discuss culture and ideas. In this contemporary reinterpretation, however, gods and spirits also take center stage—symbols of diverse cultures coming together to reflect on the future and the sense of community. The collection includes two extraordinary pieces, each with a unique story and deep meaning.

The first piece is the Torii Stool, inspired by Japanese torii gates, the sacred structures that separate the human world from the divine. This piece conveys solidity and spirituality. With its arched legs and aged brass details, the stool echoes traditional Japanese architecture, evoking a sense of sacredness. The ash wood surface, darkened with a finish that highlights its veins, recalls the fluid brushstrokes of traditional ink paintings. It is an object that feels deeply rooted in the earth while simultaneously inviting contemplation.

The second piece draws inspiration from legendary desert guardians: the Sentry Table Light is much more than a simple lamp. Available in two versions, Night Black and Daybreak White, it represents two magical moments of the day—sunset and sunrise. The Night Black version, with its black body and deep red diffuser, evokes the serenity and mystery of the dunes at dusk. The Daybreak White version, on the other hand, combines white with a soft orange diffuser, capturing the hope of a new day.

Crafted using 3D resin printing technology, this lamp blends craftsmanship and innovation, creating a piece that illuminates not just the room but also the imagination.
