The collection in collaboration with Uniqlo, KAWS, and Andy Warhol will be available starting tomorrow, August 22nd. This curious combination, upon closer inspection, shouldn’t surprise us too much. After all, these three names share a common vision that challenges the boundaries between art and commerce, making the art world accessible to everyone.

KAWS, the American designer and artist known for his distinctive and playfully bold style, and Andy Warhol, the undisputed icon of pop art, both broke down barriers between commercial art and traditional art, creating unique visual languages that resonate with a broad audience. Then there’s Uniqlo, the Japanese brand known for its affordable fashion, which has been supporting art for years through its Art for All project. This initiative, active for over a decade, has featured collaborations with some of the world’s most renowned museums, aiming to bring contemporary art closer to the public. KAWS began his collaboration with Uniqlo in 2016, while Andy Warhol’s work entered the Uniqlo universe as early as 2004, and his art continues to play a prominent role in the brand’s collections to this day. These collaborations are not just about reproducing iconic works but rather creating a dialogue between different forms of art, blending seemingly distant worlds into a unified pop aesthetic.

The most recent result of this shared vision is the announcement of a new UT collection (UT stands for Uniqlo T-shirt), created to celebrate the current KAWS + Warhol exhibition at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In addition to the classic UT T-shirts, the collection includes a wide range of products, such as hoodies, jackets, socks, and bags. Among the products that intrigue us the most are the T-shirts and hoodies featuring KAWS’ famous bunny designs and his Blue BFF alongside Warhol’s legendary Banana.

As part of the collection, an art book dedicated to the KAWS + Warhol exhibition in Pittsburgh will also be available. It is already being distributed in all Uniqlo stores and online ahead of its official market release. The book offers an overview of the works of both artists, with drawings, conceptual themes, exclusive interviews with KAWS, essays by art historians and curators, as well as images of the exhibition’s installations. In short, this collaboration aims to bring a piece of contemporary art history into many wardrobes.
