In the deep south of Italy, precisely in Squillace in Calabria is “Villa RA“, an impressive and beautiful structure designed by MORQ studio.
Three young architects have designed this wonderful holiday home conceived as an intimate meeting point between nature and architecture.
It is located 300 meters from the sea and clearly like every house in the south offers a spatial view of the coast where it overlooks.
The MORQ studio is based on a precise idea of design: “Fundamental elements of our way of designing, the lived space, the physical space made of matter and light, and, as their synthesis, the background, the daily scenic “backdrop” in which people are protagonists. One of our strengths, also in our work abroad, is the study of materials, with our sensitivity rooted in Rome: whose exteriors, for us, are like interiors. The style and the ideas that characterize us have been dropped, from time to time, in the reality in which the project is realized: from the Calabrian territory, overlooking the Mediteranno, to a suburb of Western Australia”.
The villa was built entirely in ochre colors and, in fact, it blends in perfectly with the natural landscape, thanks to its monochromatic appearance and its progressive opening to the sea.
Although it is a really imposing structure, the villa is designed for a couple, even if thanks to its large size it is possible to accommodate more people.
Villa RA develops gradually towards the sea, which is its real point of reference. The living room remains the central room of this villa, is naturally protected from the sun and the stifling heat of the Calabrian summer. The rest of the house is also completely open to the outside, the temperature is regulated by the thickness of the walls that absorb the heat, as well as the natural ventilation created by the arrangement of these different spaces.
A dream villa, where who knows, you can spend your next holidays.
