Vinilica vol. 54 – Sicket

Emanuele D'Angelo

“I feel like dancing from dusk to dawn on a beach with sweat and hugs and sand and vodka? And the seagulls. I think so.
Cocài is all this for me, from a mezzanine in Milan, and it’s my second piece”
.

These are the words of Sicket, who returns to the scene with Cocài, the new single out today May 26th. Electronic influences blend with ambient sounds, “played” instrumental parts and the analog sounds of synthesizers. Sicket is a project dedicated to sound research and experimentation, which is part of a new music scene very attentive to the Italian and international electronic underground and with the desire to propose its own sound.

Cocài in Venetian dialect are the seagulls that you never understand if they are more beautiful or more infamous, but they always have a certain charm. Who has never photographed one? “Cocài” is electronic music composed and performed by Sicket, born in Padua in 1990.
Inserted in the Undamento team, after several Italian tours as multi-instrumentalist and artistic director he is ready for his solo debut with his second single.

For Collater.al mag he has also created a playlist with all his musical influences and his personal definition of music!

“What kind of music do you make?” Usually the conversations that start like this are complicated. Especially if giving a name, a category or even just a reference to your interlocutor is so difficult that he probably doesn’t really want to know. He just doesn’t know, so he asks. In the end you answer only “electronic”, hoping to satisfy at least in part the curiosity? or the simple kindness of the polite interlocutor. Itʼs not easy in fact to describe the kind of music I like, and consequently the kind I do. Itʼs not exactly electronic music intended as “Club”, even if many would very much like to dance to it, and itʼs not exactly “Disco” music (intended as a record in English), because few are used to 45 minutes of instrumental often without even a vocal sample. It’s definitely very free, which is why, let’s say, it’s on the borderline between the stereo and the club.

By now very well established in Europe and in the world, in great growth in Italy. Anyway, when the polite interlocutor is something more than simply polite and therefore genuinely curious, the best way to give him an idea as precise as possible is to make a playlist and link it to him. Let’s say that this is the playlist that would answer that question, if you were sincerely curious and not only well educated.
