X_Lands is a strange and surreal project created by the architecture firm XTU. Transforming all the oil platforms into beautiful seaside villas.
The project focuses on life after oil after the drills stop mining and natural resources of the earth.
With the end of the oil era and countries seeking to use renewable and greener energy sources, XTU architects aim to address the symbols of oil companies: the offshore platform.

XTU is an award-winning architecture and design studio founded in 2000 by leading architects Anouk Legendre and Nicolas Desmazieres. Located in Paris, France, XTU specializes primarily in academic and environmental research, as well as residential and cultural buildings.
Thanks to their structures, oil platforms have great potential for adaptation, transforming themselves from a major source of pollution to a masterpiece of modern architecture.
This project imagines industrial monoliths transformed into poetic, inhabitable and exotic projects, or in other words ‘X_lands’.
