10 videos you need in your life this week
Your guide to the videos we can't stop watching. Come in.
Gus Dapperton – My Favorite Fish
Here is Gus Dapperton with a hairstyle that would even envy the Nick Carter of the 90s. By the way he always looks great and now that he has released the new album Where Polly People Go to Read, as far as I’m concerned, he can do anything.
Kindness – Lost Without (feat. Seinabo Sey)
The song has all the credentials to make us fall in love: it was co-written with Kelela and features vocals from Seinabo Sey, so Lost Without sounds like a warm R&B track which features a disco-inflected bassline.
In the video for the track we are aboard a train watching out the window some big gray buildings but they still seem very colorful to us.
Leven Kali – Mad At U
Who didn’t immediately want to go to the beach?
Jelani Arieh – Union Station
Jelani is nineteen years old, comes from San Diego and is part of the Raised by The Internet collective which takes its inspiration from the more famous BROCKHAMPTON. The video takes up the relaxed atmosphere of the song and represents “the start of a journey into the unknown. Leaving our place of security to chase our dreams and follow art. I hope the song inspires people to follow their hearts“.
Girl Ultra – DameLove (feat. Cuco)
It’s not Friday if Cuco isn’t here.
In DameLove‘s video of the Mexican R&B singer Girl Ultra, we see him driving a big car and taking her around the desert. There’s a romantic tension in this sensuous road trip and that languid song which melts us like a Liuk in the sun is complicit.
Sidney Gish – Sin Triangle
Sidney is a young songwriter from Boston who released her album No Dogs Allowed early last year. One of its many highlights is a track called Sin Triangle that now also has a video in which Sidney wants to tell us essentially that “two faced bitches never lie” between funny animations and pages of a holy book.
BK Andersen – Sinking Canoe
Ok, the video is not great but the track deserves a listen. He will remind you a little bit of Tom Misch or Puma Blue even if he does not yet have their fame. And it’s just a matter of time.
Patience – Living Things Don’t Last
Dizzy Spells, Patience’s debut album, is out today and in the video for Living Things Don’t Last we seem to rollerskating with her even though we sit in our chair.
Mac DeMarco – All of Our Yesterdays (live at Tonight Show)
Here Comes The Cowboy, is out next week. On The Tonight Show Mac gave a typically lazy performance, bouncing around the stage to the rhythm of his nostalgic track All of Our Yesterdays.
Iggy Azalea – Started
The trash we need to start the weekend.
