Despite the fact that more than a year is missing before the start of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, professionals have already started to work and a few days ago the sport pictograms for this 32nd edition were published.

The tradition and history of pictograms is particularly interesting, but also very long. Suffice it to say that it was in the Japanese capital, on the occasion of the 1964 Olympics, that they made their first appearance and were born to solve the problem of language. Apart from the Japanese, no one could read their alphabet, so a team of designers developed these stylized images representing the different disciplines, reducing the forms to the minimum necessary to understand their meaning.

Those for Tokyo 2020 made by Japanese designer Masaaki Hiromura take up the style of those of more than fifty years ago.
