The routine and bustle of the city have already brought us back to reality. As if that weren’t enough, today we’ve decided to make you feel the nostalgia for the sea and its colors even more with five photographers who have captured the essence of this season. Get ready to immerse yourselves in a wave of summer nostalgia with these shots that remind us of the magic of summer.
#1 Robbie MacIntosh – Santa Lucia, Naples
Photographer Robbie MacIntosh‘s shots take us to the Neapolitan coast. However, it’s not so much the location that stands out, but rather the authenticity of the people. With a street approach, MacIntosh searches for strong characteristics, gestures, and somewhat stereotypical actions in his subjects to bring to the surface everyday moments that appear extremely familiar.
#2 Andrés Juan Suarez – Stromboli Island
During his summer stay on the Island of Stromboli, photographer Andrés Juan Suarez meets Gaetano Cusolito, a fisherman born and raised there. “I had the pleasure of spending time with him and his sons,” Andrés tells us. “Gaetano goes about his daily business in this mystical place with both joy and difficulty, in the shadow of the volcano that watches over him during his sea outings with his two sons.” With his sensitivity, Andrés captures intimate and familial moments in which family bonds and the tradition of fishing intertwine in iconic scenes of generations working together to preserve their heritage and identity.
#3 Mirko Sperlonga – Cappello del prete, Terracina
Photographer and Terracina native, Mirko Sperlonga offers us an intimate glimpse of his hometown through the photo series titled “Cappello del Prete.” This iconic place for him, filled with memories and adolescent adventures, now transforms into a visual work of art that captures the timeless beauty and freshness of the seascape, providing us with a unique and personal perspective of this location.
#4 Natalie Obradovich – Capri Island
American photographer Natalie Obradovich is born and raised by the sea, specifically in Manhattan Beach on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Her love for the sea takes her on numerous journeys and leads her to specialize in travel photography. It is the Italian coasts, in particular, that inspire her. Through these shots, Natalie allows us to embark on an itinerant journey along our peninsula and its iconic aesthetics.
#5 Germano Centorbi – Ortigia, Siracusa
Germano Cetorbi is an art director and cultural manager, dedicated for years to promoting the elements of Southern Italy. Among other things, Germano is also a photographer, and in his pursuit, he chooses to capture this larger purpose by taking photographs depicting summer in Ortigia.
