“Afterworld: The Age Of Tomorrow”, the videogame by Balenciaga

Afterworld: The Age Of Tomorrow, is the latest great invention of Demna Gvasalia, creative director of Balenciaga and great promise of the fashion world.

Demna Gvasalia looks to the future and has demonstrated it by presenting the latest collection for the fall/winter 2021 season of Balenciaga through a video game set in New York in the year 2031.

The video game entitled: Afterworld: The Age Of Tomorrow, is set in the famous American city and starts with a screenshot in the style: “Choose your fighter” with different characters available.

The game obviously starts in a store in Balenciaga. After choosing the player, the character goes out to a street in the city and gets on a bus, which takes off and deforms into thin air.

The ultimate goal, as in any role-playing game, is to move through the five areas, between almost uninhabited cities and enchanted forests.
To accompany you on this strange journey there will be an exceptional cicerone, a “white rabbit” who will guide you through the forest to a secret rave.

The new collection also refers to the game, the PlayStation 5 logo has been used ironically on some pieces.
Among the other graphics, we also find the NASA patches.

In the garments instead, we find some writings that testify Balenciaga’s commitment in a circular fashion with the words “when I’m done with this shirt, I’ll donate it”. A fundamental concept, a not random detail.

Demna Gvasalia has in fact created garments that, according to him, represent the future of clothing, also for this reason the game is set in the near future, where “nature and youth coexist”.

The goal of the fashion house founded in 1917 by Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga is to offer sustainable fashion that can be adapted and that will last forever.
