Alexis Tyrsa’s Swoosh dedicated to women in sport

Giulia Pacciardi

Paris-based visual artist Alexis Tyrsa has recently completed three new artworks in the new Nike France headquarters.
The artist, who specializes in creating digital works, large-scale murals, and hand-crafted typography, has collaborated over the years with brands such as Carhartt, Awake NY, Aimé Leon Dore, and Louis Vuitton but also with artists of the caliber of Childish Gambino for whom he created the official logo of Guava Island, the feature film directed by Hiro Murai with Rihanna as a co-star.

For Nike’s new French headquarters he has created three different large-scale works dedicated to three different realities.

The first, “Women in Sport”, is a wooden reproduction of the Swoosh, the logo of the American giant, and pays tribute to a long list of internationally renowned women in sport.
The names of Serena Williams, Megan Rapinoe, Simona Halep, Caster Semenya, and many others, are hand-painted on wooden boxes of different sizes that, put together, form the big logo.

The second is a colourful mural dedicated to the 2024 Olympic Games that should take place in France with great support from the brand.

The third, on the other hand, is entirely dedicated to Nike employees and was created inside the building’s air of relaxation and play.
The work is a quote from Michael Jordan: “JUST PLAY, HAVE FUN, ENJOY THE GAME”.
