A man, his dog, a lonely and melancholy view of life and the English countryside: these are the four constants in the paintings of Gary Bunt.
Influenced by British painting, Gary Bunt began painting at the age of 44 when he discovered he had cancer. So, to overcome his anxieties and fears, he decided to approach painting, quit his previous job and made art his therapy.
His paintings tell a tormented and nostalgic life, in close contact with nature, silent and poetic.
Always beside his dog Bert, Gary Bunt paints himself from behind, in the countryside, near the sea, in the lonely streets of the city, by bike, car or tractor. What he recounts is a quiet life, made up of rituals and long pauses. Sometimes a woman appears, then some animals: cats, ducks, sheep and pigs.
In his paintings the seasons pass, the wind changes direction, the sun goes down, then rises and Gary is always there, in the English nature with his dog.
Today Gary Bunt is cured, but the story of his bond with Bert continues. His style is now mature and his art has begun to emerge and stand out.
His works, quiet and romantic, are to be admired and understood.
