30 years ago came out Akira, the Katsuhiro Otomo’s cult anime considered among the fathers of the cyberpunk genre.
A 1988 animation classic that has influenced and continues to influence generations of creatives and others.
For the occasion, the duo formed by Ash Thorp and Zaoeyo (XiaoLin Zeng), created Awaken Akira, a spectacular video tribute that in less than a minute, thanks also to the audio track composed by Pilot Priest, condenses the disturbing and dystopian climate of the post-nuclear Tokyo, made of drugs, gangs, children with superpowers, shamans and wizards, designed by Otomo.
In the work of the duo, lasted more than a year, stands out the incredible technical skill and the storytelling that seems to have woken up again one of the most dangerous children in the story.
In addition to the tribute, Thorp and Zeng have created an entire website that tells the whole work from the beginning.
A huge job that you really wouldn’t want to lose.
