Banksy’s new work in London has already been covered up

A new mural by Banksy has appeared on the façade of the Queen’s Building, part of London’s Royal Courts of Justice. The work, already claimed by the artist, depicts a judge attacking a protester with a gavel — an image that directly criticizes the power of the British judiciary. Shortly after its appearance, the mural was covered with black plastic sheets and surrounded by metal barriers, under the watch of guards and CCTV cameras. A gesture that only adds to the aura of mystery and controversy surrounding one of the most debated and incisive artists of our time.

The choice of location is no coincidence: placing such a powerful image in front of the symbolic heart of British justice highlights the tensions and contradictions between institutions and citizens.
