Brain Dead and adidas Originals rewrite the sports aesthetic of the early 2000s

Brain Dead and adidas Originals meet again, strengthening a partnership that over the years has moved effortlessly between tennis culture and cues borrowed from Japanese wrestling. This time, the starting point is a clear-cut nostalgia that looks straight to the early 2000s, somewhere between sports aesthetics and video game worlds. The result is a complete, head-to-toe capsule that blends archive references, experimentation, and that bold visual energy typical of Brain Dead.

The apparel draws heavily from the adidas archives, reworked through sculpted shapes, silver reflective inserts, and construction details that echo turn-of-the-millennium sports kits. Leading the lineup is a Climacool track top inspired by the Japanese Noragi, alongside a football-leaning jersey with metallic finishes and a goalkeeper shirt defined by an all-over print. Each piece is finished with Brain Dead graphics and custom crests, making the dialogue between the two brands instantly recognizable. Rounding out the drop is a tight selection of essentials like a sling bag and a beanie.

On the footwear side, the collaboration brings two retro-futuristic archive silhouettes back into the spotlight. The Climacool 2, originally released in 2003, is reimagined with metallic vents, reflective green mesh, and yellow accents that underline its technical edge. The Brain Dead Taekwondo Mei, meanwhile, takes a cleaner—but equally sharp—route, with a black upper, white Three Stripes, and an off-white outsole.

Further strengthening the link to video game culture, adidas Originals and Brain Dead are also introducing two limited-edition collectibles inspired by the aesthetics of classic games, available exclusively via a raffle on the CONFIRMED app.
