Carhartt WIP x F.C. Real Bristol: between football sportswear and contemporary workwear

Carhartt WIP continues to move across that territory where workwear, urban culture, and global subcultures intersect, and the new collaboration with F.C. Real Bristol proves it once again. For the first time, the European brand meets the Japanese project born under SOPH., resulting in a capsule that reinterprets contemporary football aesthetics through a more conceptual and cultural lens.

Founded in 1999, F.C. Real Bristol was conceived as an imaginary football team built around a precise idea: transforming football sportswear into something designed for everyday wear. Created ahead of the 2002 World Cup in Japan, the project has evolved over the years into a parallel universe made up of kits, training gear, and garments designed for non-existent players and fans — yet incredibly believable.

This vision meets Carhartt WIP’s attitude, a brand that has long reinterpreted its workwear heritage through cultural cross-pollination. The capsule builds on F.C. Real Bristol’s performance-driven silhouettes, reworked in the brand’s distinctive tones — Dusty Hamilton Brown, wax, navy, and black — and enriched with co-branded details that run throughout the entire collection.

Key pieces include heavyweight interlock varsity jackets, satin nylon warm-up jackets, breathable jerseys and shorts, alongside accessories that expand the narrative of the collaboration: supporter scarves, socks, canvas caps, and memorabilia objects such as a customized football and a brown rubber duck — an ironic element that breaks the sports narrative with a surreal touch.

The campaign, photographed by Theodor Guelat, also presents an abstract vision of football, reducing the sport to its most essential elements: ritual, emotion, and sense of belonging. An approach that reflects F.C. Real Bristol’s fictional team concept and Carhartt WIP’s ability to transform clothing into cultural language.

The collection will launch on April 10 at selected retailers, in Carhartt WIP stores, and online, accompanied by a series of foosball tournaments organized in different cities around the world, turning the capsule into a shared experience.
