From Detroit to Berlin with Carhartt WIP

Carhartt WIP‘s collaboration with Tresor – a Berlin club, record label and cultural institution – tells a lot about the American brand’s connection to music. Two points of view, or rather, two different musical spirits are told in this partnership. Berlin’s and Detroit’s. The goal of this collab is to cement a partnership that has already been in place for many years with a capsule collection that – coming out just today, May 23 – will also include a vinyl compilation in addition to the nine pieces in the collection.

03031 is the vinyl that combines the Berlin and Detroit area codes while at the same time retracing 90s compilations such as Tresor II – A Techno Alliance. Indeed, it opens with I.D.L.E. – a lost Model 500 track that blends cosmic melodies together with a twisting bass line – continuing with Searching (Live At Globus) by Detroit duo Ectomorph and Your Body by AMX (AKA The AM). Moving on to the collection, the predominant colors are black and electric blue, with some glow-in-the dark details and Carhartt WIP’s classic Boogeyman motif. This palette thus demonstrates the meeting of the so-called industrial spirit of Berlin and the 90s dance floor energy of Detroit. The capsule includes a Michigan Coat and a shoulder bag along with t-shirts and sweatshirts that you can also see in the video lookbook.
