Illustrator Niki Balassa – on Instagram @nikimindegy – speaks throughout in a language typical of Gen Z. Her illustrations speak to the younger generation with an irreverent, funny and ironic tone of voice. The topics she covers are particularly sensitive, from eating disorders to psychological ones, from relationship dramas to sexuality and gender issues. Undoubtedly these are difficult topics, but Niki Balassa is able to touch on them with empathy and delicacy, always with a touch of humor that sets her apart, in addition to her decidedly feminist outlook. With bright colors, direct phrases and without any kind of inhibition, her illustrations encourage individual freedom of expression, speaking of self-love, but at the same time creating a sense of belonging among members of a generation that is instead alone by definition.
