In a world that is increasingly committed to conveying messages related to body positivity and the normalization of normal bodies, for a woman to breastfeed in public cannot be a reason for shame and should not lead to hide. It is from this reflection that was born “Mom Bra“, the series of crochet works by Cassie Arnold. 

Cassie Arnold is an American artist based in Texas and mother of three. It was after the birth of her third child that she began to reflect on how many stereotypes are linked to the female body and how often the fact of not fitting into certain canons imposed by magazines and social media makes one feel inadequate and wrong. One of the parts of the female body most exposed to comments is certainly the breast, often linked to the idea of sensuality and rarely (and erroneously) associated with that of motherhood.

The artist has therefore decided to use a medium seldom used in art, namely crochet, to raise awareness of this issue and celebrate every breast, then every woman. The “perfect breast”, the one the size of a champagne glass has gone out of fashion. Now Cassie Arnold’s Mom Bra’s better represent reality and most importantly represent all women.
