CastAway, the eco-Design of Ilaria Bianchi

-
Giulia Pacciardi

Ilaria Bianchi is an Italian product and furniture designer who for two years has worked on an Eco-Design project that sees industrial and urban waste, collected through the streets of London, as the only protagonists of CastAway, the collection born from her research.

With a theory strongly critical of the culture of consumption and waste, Ilaria has managed to recontextualize abandoned elements into something completely new.
In the collection, all the forms that are most familiar to us have changed thanks to the use of waste, whose nature is thus put into question.

“Can sustainable design thinking help us develop new furniture aesthetics and possibilities?”

This is the question that the young designer asked herself and CastAway seems to be a valid answer.
