The chaotic illustrations by Mattias Adolfsson

-
Emanuele D'Angelo

Mattias Adolfsson is a Swedish illustrator who creates fantastic city block drawings, bizarre collections of writing utensils and intricate menageries of dead animals that blend science fiction and absurdity.
He prefers only pen and paper, his particularity is to draw in small notebooks, never using any program to finish his drawings.
After spending half of his life making computer games and 3D animations, Mattias Adolfsson decided in 2007 that he wanted a more analog life and opted for a career in illustration.

With drawing he is more comfortable than with computers, he has been able to find his own dimension for a few years. He has worked and continues to do so for several illustrious companies, such as The New York Times, Google, Arnold worldwide, Nickelodeon, Disney, Wired Magazine and Dagens Nyheter.

Each of his drawings is characterized by a central narrative, like the ship heading towards the sea below. Each of his incredibly intricate works is impossible to consider with a single glance, partly because they cover the entire spread of the sketchbook.
His drawings are described as chaotic, full of colors and subjects, almost confusing.

All that remains is to enter the chaotic world of Mattias Adolfsson and begin to travel through his splendid illustrations.
