What is the AI Pin that Naomi wore at the Coperni show?

During Paris Fashion Week, one detail from Coperni‘s runway show caught our attention: a device pinned to the garments on the runway. It’s called the AI Pin, and it’s a product from the company Humane, founded by Imran Chaudhri – a former Apple employee – and Bethany Bongiorno. But what are the functionalities of this device, and what does it have to do with Coperni?

AI Pin: A Leap into the Future

The AI Pin is a screenless device artfully crafted for the use of artificial intelligence. With a range of sensors, it promises to accompany the user in their daily life, but for details about its functionalities, we’ll have to wait until November 9th, the AI Pin’s launch date. According to the press release from the company, the device is «privacy-first,» a top priority for this project. We don’t know much else, but we are curious to see where this small – yet potentially powerful – object will take us. According to Domus, the key to understanding what the AI Pin will do lies in the involvement of Qualcomm – the American telecommunications research and development company – which will provide Chaudhri’s startup with an advanced Snapdragon platform to power the AI Pin.

Why Coperni

It may seem curious to see a futuristic technological device at a fashion show, but at Coperni, anything can happen. The two founders, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, view their brand as a true platform for showcasing the objects of the future, including unforgettable items like the spray-on dress worn by Bella Hadid or robot dogs. “The purpose of fashion is novelty,” they declared in an interview with Bailey Slater for Hero Magazine last April. This approach certainly works on social media, as evidenced not only by the aforementioned examples but also by the amount of content about the CD-PLAYER Swipe Bag that we found on Instagram.

Coperni remains forward-looking, and over time, we have come to identify more and more of its shows as moments of performance. This time, there was no viral spectacle on social media, but rather a detail, the AI Pin, which certainly makes us reflect on the relationship between technology and the world of fashion.
