Costas Spathis‘ photographs are tangible proof of how technology increasingly influences contemporary art. Spathis is a Greek architect and photographer, born in Trikala, specialized in aerial photography.
For his shots each element is studied in detail and, in addition to his series focused on the city, we were fascinated by the photographs in which the sea is the real protagonist.
On an expanse of crystal-clear or dark, deep water, people’s skin and the colors of their costumes or life jackets create a strong contrast. By combining his architectural studies with those of photography, the composition of the shot is geometric and minimal. The final result resembles a pattern, shots characterized by a kind of perfection that makes us think they are fake.
