Even if David Bowie passed away two years ago, he still remains one of the most interesting persons of all time. Then, it’s known to everybody he had a special connection with Japan and Japanese culture. For this reason, Ukiyo-e Project, an organization that creates contemporary Ukiyo-e based on elements of pop culture, decided to dedicate two original prints to this amazing artist.

The first one is inspired by the famous Brian Duffy’s photograph which shows a bare-chested Bowie with a red lightning bolt scrawled across his face. Image that became the cover of Aladdin Sane.

The second prints are inspired by Terry O’Neill’s Diamond Dogs promotional photograph in which the singer is posing with a large barking dog.

Both Ukiyo-e has been thinking by the illustrator Masumi Ishikawa, the wood has been carved by Yusuke Sekioka and the print has been made by Tatsuya Ito. To maintain the finest and highest quality has been made only 200 prints. Due to the nature of this hand-produced art form, colors and lines may vary intensity between prints. This creates the uniqueness of each print.
