In the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Rodez, a small village two hours drive north-east of Toulouse, the artist Miguel Chevalier has managed to recreate the complexity of the cosmos with the installation Digital Supernova 2019

Between the gothic vaults of the cathedral, just below the ceiling, 30 different grids of colored lights recreate a small section of the universe, with explosions and remains of a supernova, and that change every two minutes.

The creation of Digital Supernova 2019 was made possible thanks to Miguel, but also to Fabio Acero, an astrophysicist specializing in the remains of supernova and nebulae, with whom the artist worked arm in arm. The installation is the result of Chevalier’s technical and artistic skills and some unpublished documents provided by Acero, but also of the unique dialogue that is created between technology and architecture.

Digital Supernova 2019 will be visible to the public from 8 to 18 August in which half of the days will be accompanied by music by Jacopo Bobini Schilingi and for the rest of the days will be accompanied by musical performances by the two organists Frédéric Deschamps and Adam Bernadac
