Dr. Martens and MM6 Maison Margiela have combined their distinct visions in one of this year’s most anticipated capsule collections, marking their first official collaboration. This collection is born from a shared desire to reinterpret and subvert classic designs with the goal of creating new artistic forms and unconventional silhouettes. Debuting at the AW24 show by MM6 Maison Margiela, the capsule reimagines four iconic Dr. Martens models in an innovative way while preserving the essence of both brands.

The collection features three hybrid models. The first combines the 8-eyelet 1460 boot and the 3-eyelet 1461 shoe, crafted from Vintage Smooth and Virginia leathers in dark red and black, creating a striking contrast in color and texture. This model also includes a steel toe cap, a signature Dr. Martens detail. The second model is a reinterpretation of the tall 1490 boot fused with the 1461 shoe, designed to accentuate the silhouette’s curvature with an extended toe and black-on-black leather combination. Finally, the classic 1461 shoe is blended with the Penton loafer to create a black shoe with dark red leather details.

Each piece in the collection is enhanced by the iconic AirWair heel loop, featuring the embossed MM6 numerical logo, and showcases Dr. Martens’ signature yellow stitching. The collection will be available starting November 19, both online on the brands’ websites and in select Dr. Martens, MM6 Maison Margiela, and multi-brand stores.

This capsule represents a perfect synthesis between Dr. Martens’ legacy of functional and iconic design and MM6 Maison Margiela’s experimental approach. Dr. Martens, with a history rooted in England since 1960, is globally recognized for its durable and versatile footwear, embraced over the years by subcultures and fashion pioneers alike. MM6 Maison Margiela, launched in 1997, stands out for its unconventional take on classic wardrobe staples, employing unique techniques to create conceptual pieces that reinterpret sartorial codes.
