Eleganza Football Tournament: Milan starts again from football

In perfect style Calcetto Eleganza, in the middle of Milan Fashion Week, the Eleganza Football Tournament, the first football amateurs tournament in Europe involving some of the most creative realities of the city of Milan, has started.

We had had a little taste of what awaited us with the preview “Road to EFT” in December and finally on Monday September 28th the challenges began.

8 men’s teams and 5 women’s teams will face and tell the city from different angles, enhancing the dialogue between football, fashion and culture on and off the field.

The difficult moment that the city, like the rest of the world, is facing makes the tournament take on an even stronger meaning: sport represents a unique engine for the restart of what beautiful Milan is able to offer.

Curated by Calcetto Eleganza and sponsored by Comune di Milano, the Eleganza Football Tournament aims to celebrate the contemporary nature of the city through football and to enhance it through its most representative and creative realities: from the cultural tradition (Teatro alla Scala and Triennale Milano), to creative innovation (Burro Studio, Garage Italia and Retrosuperfuture) to the most inclusive events in the city (Ostello Bello).

This is the first edition of the tournament but will be repeated every year and will be divided into two editions: Fall-Winter, from September to November and Spring/Summer, from April to June.
The teams have been selected and invited by Calcetto Eleganza and in this first edition those involved are:

Eleganza Football Tournament (Female)

  • Calcetto Eleganza Ladies
  • Triennale Milano
  • Ostello Bello
  • GESTO L Fottball
  • Calcetto Eleganza

Eleganza Football Tournament (Male)

  • Calcetto Eleganza
  • Triennale Milano
  • Teatro alla Scala
  • Retrosuperfuture
  • Burro Studio
  • Garage Italia
  • Formidabile Lambrate
  • Calcetto Eleganza Youth

The kits of each team are unique and want to give back value and meaning to some of the symbolic places in Milan.

The actual activity started on Monday 28th September at the Cimiano Sports Centre in Sportland, Lambrate area. The choice of Lambrate is not accidental: it reinforces the story of Milan celebrating a pole in constant and continuous growth in design, architecture and sport.

Define the project as a “simple” football tournament would be reductive and limiting.
The football component in fact will be accompanied by various activities off the field: from DJ sets, projections, to other related sports activities (yoga, running, dance, etc.) hosted in the multifunctional space Formidabile Lambrate.
