When Turin-based producer Frank Sativa, known for his collaborative projects with Willie Peyote, traveled to Senegal, he met one of the most famous rap artists on the planet, LEUZ DIWANE. From their collaboration and artistic understanding, an axis between the two countries was born, leading to “Feneen,” the multidisciplinary project that culminated in a documentary to be released in the coming months and the single of the same name.
The documentary will tell the story of the project through the eyes of took part in this journey, promoted by NGOs such as LVIA, COSPE and CISV and cultural associations that have made it possible to create a link between Italy and Senegal starting with artistic experiences capable of breaking down any cultural differences.
On the single “Feneen,” sung in 4 languages (English, Wolof, Italian, French), the Italian-Senegalese singer F.U.L.A. also took part, for a dedication to the search for a place without borders where one can seek one’s own identity without it being defined by external factors. This place is the “elsewhere” (feneen in the Wolof language) where the sound is contemporary urban, influenced by African sounds. The video is directed by Giulia Rosco, with support from Jennifer Caodaglio.
