NLÉ, the architecture, design and urban planning studio led by Kunlé Adeyemi, has started the construction of a floating music hub called “Floating Music Hub” in Cape Verde.

Located in Mindelo Bay on the island of São Vicente, the project will be open to the public in December 2020.

Once completed, the project will mark another milestone in NLÉ’s development of the Makoko floating system (MFS™), which was first presented in 2013.

Built by NLÉ as a floating music center, “Floating Music Hub” is a pre-fabricated party venue project comprising three floating structures of different sizes. One of the three will be larger and will contain a multi-purpose performance hall, while the medium-sized building will be a professional recording studio. Finally, the smaller structure will be a service bar.

The three structures will be anchored around a triangular public square that will promote music, dance, art and other creative industries in Africa in Cape Verde.
