Furby turns 25, and on July 15, it will make a dazzling comeback in stores in a new version. Launched by Hasbro in 1998, the furry and somewhat unsettling creature has become one of the most iconic toys of the Millennial generation. Alongside Hot Wheels and many other games, Furby will be remembered as one of the most popular surprises inside McDonald’s Happy Meals, in a more stylized and furless version. What will be the new features of the Furby, which has already been resurrected several times?

Back in the day, one of the strengths of Furby – but also one of the creepiest aspects – was the fact that the toy couldn’t be turned off. It revived the idea of having something alive in the house, similar to the Tamagotchi, another highly sought-after toy that always needed the owner’s attention. Furby, on the other hand, was even capable of being disruptive, speaking in a completely random manner. But that’s not all, these small, furry aliens even had a microprocessor that allowed them to repeat over eight hundred different phrases, humming with their irritating yet hilarious voice.

In the latest version of the furry toy resembling an extraterrestrial, the creature will have a repertoire of over 600 phrases, songs, and jokes, with five interactive modes including Music Time, Peek-A-Boo, Crystal Ball, Relax Together, and Light Show. It can also be personalized with beads and accessories and interacted with through an app. The return of Furby definitely has a nostalgic flavor, as it has retained the most entertaining (but also unsettling) characteristics of the creature. We wonder if it will also manage to steal the hearts of the Alpha Generation (those born after 2013).
