Canvases, sheets, t-shirts, book covers, furnishing objects, Giulia Sollai‘s art knows no limits and after discovering her art we can only say one thing: luckily. 

Born in 1986 in Cagliari, Giulia now lives and works in Bologna, where she studied visual arts and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and then specialised in applied arts and illustration.
In 2014 she created La Casetta dell’Artista, a project that starts from her personal production and, above all, from her home. Yes, we can say that Giulia Sollai has put part of her home at the total disposal of art. Thus, La Casetta dell’Artista is her personal studio, but it is also the Atelier of her T-shirt brand, an art gallery where various artists exhibit, a location for photo shoots, conferences, meetings and workshops, a B&B for those looking for something more than just a place to stay, and finally a blog that deals with topics related to the world of art.

This is enough to understand how difficult it is to pin down the figure of Giulia Sollai, an all-round artist who is as interested in her own production as in that of others.
Among her works, however, we were particularly struck by the many portraits of women that you can see both on her website and on her Instagram profile. 

They are female figures made with a few very strong strokes and full backgrounds. The style might be reminiscent of Modigliani, but Giulia Sollai’s women are modern, strong, unique, free, with strong personalities and each with a unique style. You only have to look at a pair of them to start dreaming of being one of them. 

These same women are the leitmotif of the collaboration with Marella, the Italian brand of the Max Mara Group, for which Giulia has created a collection of 6 T-shirts. The paintings printed on the T-shirts scream “summer” and “Italy” from all sides: young girls enjoying a cocktail on the beach, a coffee sitting at an outdoor table or a nice plate of fresh fruit. They are illustrations that are already projecting us into next summer, making us feel the sound of the sea and the heat on our skin.
