The Japanese studio Velocity has designed an office, with a large curved and habitable roof, this strange project is located in the city of Okazaki, Japan.
The studio, which is always characterized by its originality, surprised everyone this time too.
They built above their wooden roof, an outdoor common area where you can relax in peace and comfort furnished with various plants and trees. A series of openings allow the trees on the ground floor to grow further, they grow from the ground floor and up through the roof openings, recreating the atmosphere of a park.
Then there is the second and last closed area, where there is a small communal kitchen and dining room, which opens towards the roof.

Studio Velocity has built the two-storey building with an open-plan interior on the ground floor, while the roof, where there is an outdoor area, maintains its privacy as it is mostly surrounded by large houses and buildings.

A project with great attention to detail, the Japanese architectural studio has tried to create a new curved surface with flat material and a very thin cross-section, using gravity and tension.
The unique curved surface of the roof seems to float in the middle of the residential buildings in the area, a pre-tensioned structure has been adopted to fix the maximum expected load by pulling and deflecting it in advance.
As people climb onto the roof, the tension on the lower vertical columns gradually decreases and is designed so that compression does not occur up to a maximum of 150 people.
