A simple but brilliant idea is at the base of the new advertising campaign for the famous Stabilo highlighters. The title of the campaign made by the agency DDB Group is Highlight the Remarkable and what is more remarkable than the multiple female figures who have had important roles throughout history, but that, unfortunately, are not remembered as men? So, the yellow highlighters color the faces of three women in three black and white photos.
One of the advertisements shows the photo of the NASA control room full of men waiting for the return of Apollo 11. In the background a woman is highlighted, she is Mrs. Katherine Johnson, the mathematician responsible for the calculations that made sure the return to Earth of the Apollo 11. The other two women present in the campaign are Lise Meitner, who first discovered nuclear fission, and Edith Wilson, the former American first lady who assumed presidential responsibilities after her husband Woodrow Wilson suffered a severe stroke.
