In Sweden, in the snow and ice of the Torne river, thirty-three artists from sixteen different countries have spent two weeks working on the ICEHOTEL #30, a temporary hotel that will be open to the public until April 14, 2020. The project was founded by Yngve Bergqvist, who introduced that in 1991 and proposed it again every year. This is the first ice and snow hotel in the world located in Jukkasjärvi, a country in the north of Sweden. To date, the hotel has had more than a million visitors from each country and is reconstructed every year at the same time as the festival of ice sculpture. The structure carries out its regular activity from December to April.

Its success has created a phenomenon that has favored the development of similar structures throughout Scandinavia. ICEHOTEL #30 was therefore created for the thirtieth anniversary to celebrate the entire structure. To do this, in the spring of 2019, 1,300 blocks of ice were collected from the river and kept cold until they were used to create this year’s art.
For the construction of the hotel, the artists designed 15 artistic suites for guests, a wedding and other celebrations room and finally the main room complete with columns and chandeliers.
Ice was also used to make glasses, plates and to deliver orders in the form of sculptures, blocks or entire environments for events around the world. This construction is open to the public until April 14, 2020, due to weather conditions. In fact, after this period the ice melts. A permanent part of the ICEHOTEL, open all year round, has also been created.
