Through the search bar, Google always manages to provide us with all the information we need – be it advice, opinions, tips or warnings. Like it or not, users’ searches reflect our collective hopes and fears, tell something about everyone and paint an overall picture of the contemporary world.
To chronicle the ups and downs of the summer ahead and capture a strange moment in history, Google and the London-based creative agency Uncommon have created a new advertising campaign. Entitled “It Starts with Summer“, it is an emotional 2-minute reflection on the impact of the last 18 months on the world today.
“It Starts with Summer” combines images and video and celebrates the things we will remember most about this historic moment when we oscillate between hope for the future and worry about what it might hold for us. For example, “how to remember lost loved ones”, “things to do away from home”, “sports clubs near me”, “how to talk to people” are just some of the most frequently asked questions of the moment.
To the tune of Jamie XX‘s “All Under One Roof Raving“, Google explores our hopes and fears for the future, describes our social anxiety and tells a story of desire, freedom and hope, reflecting modern Britain, rich in diverse cultures and energies.
