Jan Siemen lives the illustration as a hobby, a side project to his company Sons of Ipanema, with which he deals with graphics.
Influenced by cartoons and old surreal paintings, Jan plays with light and shadows to create an atmosphere that changes depending on what he wants to tell.
His illustrations are all different except for the vector format, which he prefers, and a grainy texture that he uses as a final touch.
Inspired by everyday life, Jan often plays with perspective and visual word games, starting by pinning his idea on a sheet of paper and then working on shape, colour, light and nuances with illustrator and photoshop.
Although he is always very careful to keep his style under control, another fundamental point of his work is to find a way to convey all the emotions that his illustrations can give to those who look at them.
