Johnson Hartig brings the energy of Los Angeles to Desigual’s new collection

The sun, carefreeness, the scent of the sea and an explosion of colors, these are the common elements between Desigual and Johnson Hartig, who have joined forces to create a collection under the banner of freedom of expression that knows no limits.

DesigualXJohnsonHartig consists of 25 garments that are characterized by a particular and almost cheeky use of hypnotic prints, contrasting patches, patchwork, beads, bangs and rhinestones. 25 garments that summarize and condense the philosophy and the idea of style of Johnson Hartig, Californian designer who, since he founded the brand Libertine in 2001, has brought a breath of fresh air into the world of fashion.

Worn by names like Machine Gun Kelly, Amanda Seyfried and Cher, Hartig has never let anything hold him back, and it’s on this momentum that the collection with Desigual that arrives today, March 1, in Desigual stores and online shops is based.

We at Collater.al asked Johnson Hartig a few questions to find out more about how the collection came about.

How much did your background influence in the past and influence today your work and creations?

Obviously everything we do influences everything else we do. All of my life experiences are tied up in the clothing I design.

How did the collaboration with Desigual begin and what are the common elements between your style and that of the brand?

Love of color, pattern, and a joy in clothing. Christian Lacroix, who has worked with Desigual for 10 years recommended me to the team at Desigual.

Who is the collection in collaboration with Desigual aimed at and which are the values on which it is based and that it wants to communicate?

Its aimed at everyone that enjoys the joy of life! Live consciously, and freely!

In which direction do you think the fashion world will evolve in the next few years and what do you think will be the next trends?

I hope we will pay more attention to the planet, design clothing with the planet in mind, and all do with less!!
